Costa Rica is now fully open to tourists and they no longer require a negative PRC COVID test. They still do have some entry requirements and they are below:
Requirements to enter Costa Rica:
Fill out the electronic epidemiological HEALTH PASS form, available at https://salud.go.cr. Passengers will be required to present the QR code that is generated from completing the Health Pass up on arrival into Costa Rica.
It is mandatory that tourists purchase travel insurance, covering their accommodations in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID-19 illness. An explanation of one’s travel insurance coverage, addressing Costa Rica’s requirements, must be uploaded or entered into the HEALTH PASS in order to be reviewed and approved by the Costa Rican authorities. If more information on international insurance is needed, the Costa Rican authorities will contact the passenger at the email address indicated in the HEALTH PASS.
For international insurance policies, tourists must request a certification from their insurance company, issued in English or Spanish, verifying at least the following three conditions:
Effectiveness of the policy during the visit to Costa Rica.
Guaranteed coverage of medical expenses in the event of becoming ill with the pandemic COVID-19 virus while in Costa Rica, for at least USD $50,000 (fifty thousand United States Dollars).
Includes minimum coverage of USD $2,000 for lodging expenses issued as a result of the pandemic.
Passengers who fail to comply with these requirements may not enter the country.
