Monks, Muslims, and Orphans

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

In 2012, I had the privilege of going on my very first mission trip with my college. We went to Thailand to work with Buddhist monks, Muslim school children, and a Christian orphanage.

My idea of “missions” was to help the poor and wear Christian t-shirts, but what we actually did was something far more beneficial.

While speaking with the monks, I learned how to plainly share the Gospel and share my heart for Jesus. When we went to the Muslim school, I saw how hard some hearts can be, but I also got to see how beautiful a curious mind is from a child hearing the story of creation for the first time. But, the most beautiful sight that I have seen, even to this day, was little children from 3-10 years old singing popular worship songs in Thai and seeing their love and devotion.
